Alicen brings over 23 years of experience serving the CalWORKs community, including her most recent role as CalWORKs Coordinator, where she led one of the highest-enrolled CalWORKs programs in California. A former CalWORKs participant herself, Alicen combines deep institutional knowledge with lived experience, making her a passionate and effective advocate for student-parents and underserved communities. Recognized by the California Community College Chancellor’s Office as the 2021 Classified Staff of the Year, she is known for her innovative leadership, strategic partnerships, and unwavering commitment to student success.
Nino has been with the CalWORKs program since 2016. She is a proud LAVC and CalWORKs alumni. Her educational experience and focus includes an AA degree in Behavioral Science, BA in Computer Information Technology and a Masters degree in Educatinal Technology.
She coordinates the daily operations of the CalWORKs office.
Edit has been with the CalWORKs program since 2016. Her educational experience includes an MS degree in Counseling from California Lutheran University.
Edit is an academic and career Counselor specializing in students experiencing domestic violence. She is also a Vocational Assessor and Learning Disability Evaluator for DPSS participants.
Liliana has been with LAVC since 1989. She is a proud LAVC Alumni. Her educational experience and focus includes a BA Degree in Liberal Studies from California State University, Northridge and M.S. in Educational Counseling from National University.
Liliana is a Professor of Counseling, General Counselor, CalWORKs Counselor, and Vocational Assessor. She specializes in Counseling services to students experiencing homelessness and CalWORKs Work-Study.
Asya has been with LAVC since 2008. She is a LAVC alumni. Her educational experience and focus includes a BA Degree in Interdisciplinary Linguistics and two minors: TESL and General Sociology and a MS in Educational Counseling from National University. She also holds a TESL certificate.
Asya is an academic and career Counselor specializing in non-credit to credit students. She is also a learning disability evaluator for DPSS referred students.
She is fluent in Armenian and Russian.
