Academic Counseling

Although it can often be difficult to get an appointment with an academic couselor, Puente students have direct access to the Puente counselor, Andres Cruzalegui. Puente students (a group of about 25 people) share a Google Hangouts conversation with their peers, counselor (Andres), and English Instructor (Holly) to help and support each other 24/7!

Puente students work closely with the counselor to explore both academic and career options. Andres works with students individually to develop a detailed educational plan leading to transfer.

Puente students are also required to take a Personal Development (1 unit) class taught by Andres in the Fall semester and Career Exploration (3 units) in the Spring.

The Fall 2020 Counseling 001 course (which will be taught online) is still open. You will need a permission number to enroll, which we will provide after you have submitted an application to join the Puente Program.

Students also visit various university campuses and participate in an annual Puente Motivational Conference that takes place at a UC campus. The Fall 2020 Motivational Conference will take place virtually.
