The Promise at LAVC



Complete these required components by February 7, 2022 to be eligible for the Promise for Spring 2022:

1.pngApply to the Promise: Complete the LA College Promise Application. 

Tip! After you submit your LA College Promise App, you will receive an email from  a Promise representative at the District Office. The representative will help you complete your Promise requirements by the deadline. If you have any questions, please email for assistance.

2.pngFinancial Aid: Complete your 2021-22 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form OR California Dream Act Application and confirm that LAVC's Financial Aid Office has received it.

Tip! If you submitted a CA Dream Act App and are a non-resident, you must be eligible for in-state tuition fees under AB 540 to qualify for the Promise. Visit the Welcome Center via Zoom for assistance.

3.pngNew Student Online Orientation: Complete the LAVC New Student Online Orientation. Sign in to your Student Portal, select the Student Status tile, click on the Student Success Page, then click on New Student Orientation.

Tip! After you complete your New Student Online Orientation, save your certificate of completion document. The next day, your portal should indicate Satisfied next to Orientation. If it does not, send your certificate to for assistance.

4.pngRegister in Spring 2022 classes: Register in at least 12 units (or qualify for an accommodation of a reduced course load through the Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) Office. Register in the classes listed in your FYSEP.

The LACCD Promise team will help you create your Student Educational Plan with the classes you need to register for Spring 2022. Please check your email regularly. 

Tip! After you receive the confirmation email from the LACCD Promise team, you must register in your fall classes in your Student Portal.

Tip! If you had an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) in high school, you may qualify for an accommodation of a reduced course load. Visit the SSD Office via Live Chat for assistance.
