Campus Alert: Tropical Storm Hilary

Out of an abundance of caution and in line with the decision by LAUSD to remain closed, Los Angeles Valley College will conduct business remotely on Monday, August 21, 2023.
Except for essential personnel, no employees, students or community members should be on campus. Normal operations are expected to resume on Tuesday, August 22, 2023.
Virtual student services are available via Cranium Cafe, or by contacting the LAVC Welcome Center.
8/20/23 -- Los Angeles Valley College is monitoring Hilary as it approaches the Los Angeles area. The safety of all college locations and team members is our top priority.
The National Weather Service has downgraded the hurricane to a tropical storm as it reached Southern California Sunday midday through Monday. A flood and tropical storm watch has been issued for parts of Los Angeles County.
Campus Preparedness
- LAVC Administration is monitoring the storm closely and coordinating preparedness and response planning, including checking facilities for potential flooding and leaks.
- Please be reminded of LACCD Safety Alert, the District’s emergency notification system. Current students should ensure their contact information is up to date in their Student Portal to receive important emergency notifications.
Preparation Tips
- You may also register for the L.A. City Emergency Alert or L.A. County Alerts.
- Be prepared for potential power outages by charging phones, laptops, and other power supply instruments. Keep a flashlight handy with available batteries.
