Steps To Assess

Steps to taking the assessment/placement at Valley College:

  • STEP 1: If you are planning to assess in ESL English at Valley, you must apply to Los Angeles Valley College prior to assessing (this includes students who have applied to other colleges in the LACCD) If you have not applied to Valley College, please go to the online application page.
  • STEP 2: Once you receive confirmation that your application has been processed and you have received an email with your Student ID #, you may assess. Email @email to set up a Self Guided Placement with an ESL faculty member. You will need to have your full name, phone number and LAVC student ID number to be able to complete the Self-Guided Placement.
  • STEP 3: After you complete the self-guided placement with an ESL faculty member, results will be entered on the Student Information System.
  • STEP 4: After you get your results, you will be able to make an appointment for a First Semester Planning session with a counselor. You will also be informed that you should complete the online Orientation.
