Biotech Training Academy

Manufacturing Technician Biotech Cohort
No Experience Necessary - Entry Level Job - Excellent Career

This 6 week training program was designed to prepare a participant for the entry level position of Manufacturing Technician I. In addition to providing the foundational technical skills needed for the role, participants will learn work readiness skills that can help them find and keep a job.

Join the Biotech Bridge Training Academy to prepare for a career with opportunities for advancement. Entry level salary is typically $20 per hour. The program is provided at no-cost to those who qualify.

To participate in the Biotech Training Academy, you must be unemployed, you must be able to legally work in the USA and be able to provide documentation (Passport or Social Security Card and DL). 

What Does a Manufacturing Technician 1 Do?

Manufacturing Technicians 1 utilize current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), standard operating procedures, critical thinking, good communication, and teamwork.

Manufacturing Technicians 1  are responsible for the set-up, operation, and cleaning of various types of process equipment. They take meticulous notes, clean and sanitize equipment in biomedical, biopharmaceutical, and bioindustrial settings.

Requirements and Job Duties*

Initial Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED, AA preferred
  • Ability to pass background check and drug screen
  • Basic math skills with proficiency in the metric system
  • Accurate documentation skills is a must
  • Ability to work in clean room (sanitized) environment and gowning up
  • Available to work any shift, including weekends
  • Must be okay with working in a COLD ENVIRONMENT with heavy lifting and lots of cleaning
  • Must read/write/speak English effectively

Job Duties:

  • Responsible for executing all process in production
  • Full participation in both departmental projects and quality working teams
  • Strong emphasis on documentation according to FDA regulations
  • Work in clean room (sanitized) manufacturing environment
  • Facility and equipment cleaning
  • Adherence to cGMP, environmental health, and safety guidelines, and any other related regulations
  • Ability to lift/push/pull 50lbs.

  • Best Practices for Success
  • Interview Skills/Resume Writing 

Those with reading and math skills at or above the 9th grade level are well-prepared for the math and science topics taught during the academy. Participants who believe they don’t have a strong background in math or science should not be discouraged to apply because math and science for the workplace are taught during the academy. Most importantly, a desire to learn, interest in the field of biotechnology, and commitment to the program determine individual success in the program. Participants must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or its equivalent.

6 Weeks M-F 8:30am-3:30pm


The next Biotech Training Academy will be held on campus.

Monday, August 12, 2024 - Friday, September 20, 2024
