Dean of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)
Dr. Jennifer Cole serves as Dean of Academic Affairs - STEM & Curriculum. Her responsibilities include the Applied Technology Department; Biology Department; Chemistry, Physics & Engineering Department; Earth Science Department; Mathematics Department; Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement (MESA) Program; and TAP Honors Program.
Dr. Cole is dedicated to increasing student success in STEM disciplines and to cultivating equitable and inclusive learning environments for community college students. Her scientific research focused on using geochemical tools to study Earth's past climates, which informs her advocacy for sustainability and climate justice. Prior to coming to Valley, Dr. Cole was tenured professor of Earth Science at West Los Angeles College. She has also held teaching and research positions at Western Kentucky University and Columbia University. Dr. Cole attended community college prior to earning a bachelor's degree from Rutgers University and a Ph.D. from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
