LAVC Student Wifi and Campus Computer Access

IMPORTANT

All LAVC student Wifi and Lab accounts are automatically generated for students at the beginning of each semester and deleted at the end of the semester. Only current students have LAVC student Wifi and Lab accounts.

If you register for a class after the beginning of the semester your Wifi and Lab account will be created within two days of class registration.

The LAVC Wireless (Wi-fi) Network

  • Wireless Coverage (Wi-fi) is available in most buildings and open areas of the college.
  • Logon is not required to connect wirelessly to the LAVC web site but it is required for visiting any other site.
  • Make sure that your wireless card is enabled. Many laptops have a button around the keyboard to enable/disable wireless connections.
    • Check your laptop manual for more details.
  • Connect to one of LAVC wireless networks
    • LAVC_Employees
    • LACCDStudents
    • LAVC Guest
  • Logon to the wireless network
    • Open your browser (IE, Chrome, Firefox, etc), and try to reach a Web site such as “LAVCd.edu.”
    • You will be prompted to enter your username, and password. See below for the username, and password to use depending on the LAVC wireless network you connected to.

Students (LACCDStudents wireless network)

  • Log in using your Student Information System (SIS) ID number and password. Your SIS username and password is the same as the one used to access your PeopleSoft dashboard, and email account.
  • Be sure to check "I accept the terms and conditions" before signing in. Using the wireless network indicates that you accept the terms and conditions.

Employees (LAVC_Employees wireless network)

  • Log in using your Student Information System (SIS) username and password. Your SIS username and password is the same as the one used to access your email account.
  • Be sure to check "I accept the terms and conditions" before signing in. Using the wireless network indicates that you accept the terms and conditions.

Guests (LAVC Guest wireless network)

  • Log in using the username, and password you will be provided in advance. (A Work Order is required to request a guest username/password.)
  • Be sure to check "I accept the terms and conditions" before signing in. Using the wireless network indicates that you accept the terms and conditions.

HOW DO I LOG INTO THE CAMPUS WIFI?

WiFi Networks Available for Students

In your laptop, click the Wi-fi icon to view a list of available wireless networks. Select “LAVCStudents" or “LAVC Guest."

When you open a browser window you will be presented with a log in screen. Use your User Name and Password to gain access to Wi-fi. Review the Computer Use Policy.

HOW DO I LOG INTO A LAB COMPUTER?

To log into a lab computer, use your network username and password.

Review the Computer Use Policy.

NOTE: Anything saved in the lab computer will be deleted when the computer is shut down.
