The Philip S. Clarke Math Lab

 

 

The LAVC Math Lab is located in LARC 226 (Library 2nd floor room 226).

The Math Lab provides free tutoring in mathematics for all actively enrolled LA Valley College students

The Math Lab also provides free access to most math textbooks, some student solution manuals and computers.

Location:  Library and Academic Resource Center (LARC) room 226

Hours of Operation:                                              

For the Fall semester 2019, the Math Lab opens on 09/3/19 . 

The hours are Monday through Thursdayy from 10:00 am to 6:30 pm and

Friday and Saturday from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Computers and math textbook are available for students to use in the lab.

Want to become a tutor?

The Los Angeles Valley College Academic Resource Center (ARC)  is accepting applications for new tutors for the fall semester. There are opportunities to work as a tutor specifically in a designated center as well as  positions for course embedded tutors. These positions offer between five and twenty five hours per week, depending on the subject and availability. The position pays begins at $14.49 per hour and can increase with learning and experience. For the Math Lab, we are looking for students who have successfully passed Math 227 or higher with a grade of an "A." 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Earn a "A" or higher in the subject matter being tutored and at least a 2.0 GPA.

  • Faculty Recommendation

  • Enroll in and maintain full-time status (12 units) or 5 units plus 1 unit of COOP ED. If you are a community college student, at least 6 units must be at LAVC. You can also be a full-time student at a four-year university.
