The following construction projects are currently taking place at Los Angeles Valley College:

Work in Campus Data Closets

LAVC faculty, staff, and students should be aware of work taking place in data closets across campus from Monday, January 24 - Thursday, January 27, 2022.

Work in Campus Data Closets

From January 24 - 27, 2022, work will take place in data closets across campus and in the Omega Data Center. This work will include cleanup of cabling and configuring security network switches. No impacts to campus are expected with this work.

This work is part of the Security Network Infrastructure Phase 1 project. Read the Construction Notification [PDF].

Temporary Closure of Coldwater Canyon Extension

LAVC faculty, staff, and students should be aware of the temporary closure of Coldwater Canyon Extension due to construction activites from Friday, November 12, 2021 - Friday, May 27, 2022.

Temporary Closure of Coldwater Canyon Extension

From November 12, 2021 - May 27, 2022, Coldwater Canyon Extension will be closed due to construction services including a new roadway and safety and security improvements.

Lot G Parking will serve as the contractor lay down area, and there will be construction-related noise in the area.

Temporary Closure of College Road North

LAVC faculty, staff, and students should be aware of roadway and parking closures on College Road North from October 18, 2021 - January 31, 2022.

Temporary Closure of College Road North

Starting October 18, 2021, College Road North roadway and parking will be closed due to the beginning of construction for roadway and stormwater improvements. Construction is forecasted to be completed on January 31, 2022.

The Fulton Avenue sidewalk and campus entrance to the circular driveway will remain open. College Road South roadway and parking will remain open until completion of College Road North construction.

Construction-related noise is expected in the area.

This work is part of the Campus Road North & South Stormwater Implementation, Roadway, Safety and Security Improvements project. Read the Construction Notification #01 with maps [PDF].

Temporary Sidewalk Closures Near Music and Theater Arts

LAVC faculty, staff and students should be aware of sidewalk closures effecting Music Building & Theatre Arts from December 9, 2019-January 17, 2020. The closed sidewalks include south of the Music building east entrance, south of Music building between the Motion Picture Studio, east side of Motion Picture Studio, and east side of the Omega Data Center. Directional signage will be placed to route student traffic during this period.

Starting December 9, 2019, there are sidewalk closures effecting Music & Theatre Arts buildings. Directional signage will be placed to route student traffic during this period.

This work is part of the Energy Infrastructure Improvements (EII) project. Read the EII Construction Notification #14 with diagram [PDF].

The sidewalk closures are located:

  • south of the Music building east entrance,
  • south of Music building between the Motion Picture Studio,
  • east side of Motion Picture Studio, and
  • east side of the Omega Data Center.

There will also be construction related equipment noise in the area. 

Work is expected to be completed by January 17, 2020.

Closure of Lot H, Quad Park, and Bungalows 45-47, 50-52, and 48-49 in Preparation for the Energy Infrastructure Improvement Project

LAVC faculty, staff and students should be aware that Lot H, the Quad Park, and Bungalows 45-47, 50-52, and 48-49 will be closed starting on December 6, 2018 and fencing is being installed as part of the Energy Infrastructure Improvements (EII) project. The EII project includes the demolition of Bungalows 45-47 and 50-52 in preparation for the construction of the Thermal Energy Storage Tank (TES), equipment upgrades in the Central Plant, and construction of underground piping for the north loop located at the north end of Monarch Square.

Closure of Lot H, Quad Park, and Bungalows 45-47, 50-52, and 48-49 in Preparation for the Energy Infrastructure Improvement Project

Starting on Thursday, December 6, mobilization will begin for the Energy Infrastructure Improvement (EII) project. The project includes the demolition of Bungalows 45-47 and 50-52 in preparation for the construction of the Thermal Energy Storage Tank (TES), equipment upgrades in the Central Plant, and construction of underground piping for the north loop located at the north end of Monarch Square.

Construction fencing will be erected around Lot H, the Quad Park, and Bungalows 45-47, 50-52, and 48-49. Pedestrian access into the campus will be available on the west side of Lot H as illustrated on this diagram [JPG].

In addition, Lot H will be used for contractor's offices, parking and lay down, and will be closed to campus parking during the duration of the project.

Installation of the Valley Academic and Cultural Center Construction Fencing, Permanent Closure of Parking Lot C & Restriping of Parking Lot B 

LAVC faculty, staff and students should be aware that activities related to the construction of the new Valley Academic and Cultural Center (VACC) begins on September 10, 2016. Parking Lot B will be restriped to delete parking stalls and create a east-west roadway in the lot, and new construction fencing for the VACC project will be installed, and Parking Lot C will permanently close.

Installation of the Valley Academic and Cultural Center Construction Fencing, Permanent Closure of Parking Lot C & Restriping of Parking Lot B 

Starting Saturday, September 10, activities related to the construction of the new Valley Academic and Cultural Center (VACC) will begin.

Parking Lot B will be restriped to delete parking stalls and create a east-west roadway in the lot. In addition, new construction fencing for the VACC project will be installed, and Parking Lot C will permanently close. In Parking lot B, a number of parking stalls will be removed, and a new vehicle access lane will be striped to create a new two-lane vehicle pathway north of a new temporary construction fence starting September 10.

Following that, new construction fencing will be installed that will permanently close Lot C, and the current pedestrian pathways between the Music Building and Campus Drive to Parking Lot B will not be accessible. New paths will be identified / added to facilitate pedestrian traffic around the construction site. Please refer to this map [JPG].
