Graduation Ceremony Questions

Is LAVC hosting an in-person graduation ceremony this year? 

Unfortunately, no.  A Virtual Commencement Ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at 9:00 am. The ceremony can be viewed on Facebook and YouTube.

How do I participate in LAVC's Virtual Graduation?

You must submit a Graduation Petition by March 12th.  Your information will be provided as a participant.

Graduates RSVPs, Video & Slides Questions

How do I participate in the Virtual Graduation Ceremony?

Eligible students will receive an email from the Los Angeles Valley College with details. Please check your student email.

What is a grad slide? 

This is the slide that will be used to recognize and represent YOU during the Virtual Graduation Ceremony. It will include your name, your degree, your photo (submitted by you) and honors (if applicable). 

Information will be sent to you by email on how to upload your picture and information. Please review the instructions carefully.

How do I get a cap and gown?

Students who RSVP by April 5th will receive a cap and gown at no charge to them.  

What if I have not received an email from LAVC?

Please contact the Office of Student Life via Cranium Cafe.

Will there be ASL Interpreters at the Virtual Graduation Ceremony?

Closed captioning in English will be provided during the Virtual Graduation Ceremony.

How and when will I receive my official diploma?

The Graduation Office will verify that you have completed all the requirements for your degree. Printed diplomas are mailed by October.

Please make sure that your address is updated on the Student Information System. Print out a change of address form on the LAVC Admissions website (the form is also available in the office), and bring it to the Admissions office.
