Graduation Ceremony Questions

Is LAVC hosting an in-person graduation ceremony this year? 

Yes. An in-person graduation ceremony will be held on Tuesday, June 7th, 2022.

Will the ceremony will livestreamed?

Yes it will.  Go to the LAVC homepage for the link.

Do I need to apply to graduate?

Yes. You must submit a Graduation Petition by March 11th. If eligible, your name will be included in the list of graduates. 

How do I submit a Graduation Petition?

Please meet with a counselor to complete a Graduation Petition by March 11th, 2022. More information can be found at this link.

How do I RSVP to participate in the Graduation Ceremony?

Eligible students will receive an email from the Los Angeles Valley College with details. Please check your student email or contact the Office of Student Life at (818) 778-5516.

How do I get a cap and gown?

To purchase a cap and gown, please visit or contact the LAVC Bookstore at (818) 947-2313.

What if I have not received an email regarding graduation?

Please contact the Office of Student Life via Cranium Cafe or at (818) 778-5516.

Will there be ASL Interpreters at the Graduation Ceremony?

Yes, ASL interpreters will be present at the ceremony.

How and when will I receive my official diploma?

The Graduation Office will verify that you have completed all the requirements for your degree. Printed diplomas are mailed by October.

Please make sure that your address is updated on the Student Information System. Print out a change of address form on the LAVC Admissions website (the form is also available in the office), and bring it to the Admissions office.


STUDENT GRADUATES: we do not have a place to store your personal belongings.  You will need to carry your purse or any other items you bring with you.  

Wear comfortable shoes.
