Staff/Cadets
The Los Angeles Valley College College Sheriff's Station is part of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Community College Bureau. The Community College Bureau of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department provides law enforcement services for the nine college campuses of the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD). The nine campuses include Los Angeles City College, East Los Angeles College, Harbor College, Trade Tech College, Southwest College, West Los Angeles College, Valley College, Pierce College, and Mission College. Each college campus has a Sheriff's Office which is staffed with L.A. County Sheriff Deputies and L.A. County Sheriff Security Officers. Additional assistance is provided by LACCD Cadets. This staffing provides 24 hour security coverage for all persons visiting and using any campus within the LACCD.
STAFF
The Los Angeles Valley College College Sheriff's Station staff is comprised of two deputies, 13 security officers, and nine cadets. The sheriff's station is staffed seven days per week, 24 hours per day.
CADETS
The Cadet position is an hourly, part-time, without benefits, uniformed, non-sworn peace officer position with the Los Angeles Community College District assigned to a specific campus.
Under the direction of the L.A. Sheriff's Department and L.A. Community College District personnel, the campus Cadet position provides a full range of services to the campus community. These services include, but are not limited to: safety services, safety escort services, law enforcement police desk operations, public relations, clerical and administrative support, investigation assistance, property collection, crime prevention, parking enforcement, hand-held radio use, and other related campus duties. This position may be assigned to assist with security for special events related to the College or the District including special parking enforcement and traffic direction.
Cadets are expected to work during a 24 hour/seven-day-a-week schedule and may include working on holidays. Cadets receive related training necessary to perform the job.
