Am I eligible to be a STEP Leader?
- To be eligible for a paid position and/or Work Study position as a STEP Leader, you must be either a) an undergrad enrolled in 12 units at any accredited institution, or b) enrolled in 5 units in conjunction with 1 unit in the LAVC Cooperative Education Program for the current semester.
- Graduate students must be enrolled in 9 units in a graduate program at an accredited institution to be eligible for hire.
- Volunteers do not have an enrollment requirement.
- A tutor must have a minimum 2.0 GPA and must have received a letter grade of B or higher in the course he/she is tutoring.
How many hours per week would I need to work?
STEP Leaders work on average ten hours per week for every two-three course they are assigned.

What materials do I need to submit?
- Fill out the online application.
- Submit a recommendation from a faculty member in the tutoring subject area in which you would like to work. This can be submitted electronically through the online application form.
- Submit a copy of your unoffical transcripts from the institution where you have completed most of your undergraduate coursework through the online application.
