Welcome to the page for the Title V Cooperative: Engaging for Student Success!

The Summer Teaching Innovations Academy (TIA)

Join us in this innovative project in which we redesign courses to enhance our students’ retention and success. The project starts with a summer academy in which we are exposed to new ideas and research in pedagogy and learning. The following Fall semester, we hold monthly workshops with Academy participants to check in and further support their redesign plans and implementation, including data analysis from student surveys. In Spring, we have another gathering in which to assess how it all worked and disseminate our findings.

We are recruiting for the Summer 2020 Academy this Spring 2020 semester! Look for us in email, at your department meetings, and right here. Here is the current RFP. The deadline to apply is extended to May 15, 2020. Please contact Maria Calptio with any questions.

Other TIA Options

We continue to build the Teaching Innovations Academy through pedagogical and technology workshops, open to all faculty.

The Teaching Innovations Academy Express

The TIA Express is a self-paced facilitated class that runs yearly, July through June. One can do any or all of the modules, they each have unique content and a specific number of (flex) hours. Each module is inspired by and related to the Summer TIA topics. If you want some professional development on teaching innovations to increase your students' success or you cannot do the summer program but do want to get some of that training, join us! Contact Professional Development to enroll.

Cultural Inclusiveness Training and Safe Zone Ally Trainings

The Cultural Inclusiveness Training is all about equity, diversity, and how to fully engage in a positive way with all of our students and co-workers. This training, created by Title V, is the pre-requisite to the Safe Zone Ally program, both administered by LAVC Professional Development. Contact Professional Development to enroll.
