For Faculty

How does the STEP Program benefit instructors?

Although STEP Leaders are not teacher's assistants and can't provide help with grading or teaching the course, they can contribute to classroom management through assistance with group work, keeping students on task, answering questions, etc. Instructors have reinforcements with student success in and out of the classroom, as instructors have the option of choosing the topics for the STEP Leaders' weekly workshops. STEP Leaders can also provide insight into areas where students may be struggling or in need of clarification.

How can I get a STEP Leader?

If you are a faculty member interested in having a STEP Leader in one of your courses, contact Holly Batty at

  • Instructors working with STEP Leaders will need to fill out and submit the Instructor Agreement to Holly Batty.
