Closure of Math Science Westside Sidewalk Until May 29

LAVC staff, faculty, and students should be aware that starting on Tuesday, January 28, the sidewalk (that runs north and south) on the westside of the Math Science Building will be temporary closed. The sidewalk will reopen on Friday, May 29. The reason for this closure is due to demolition operations of condemned Bungalows on the Westside of the college campus.

The sidewalk that runs north and south on the west side of the Math Science Building will be temporary closed from January 28-May 29.

The slidewalk is being closed due to the activities related to the demolition of the condemned Bungalows westside of the campus near the Math Science Building. Signage will be place to redirect ADA/pedestrian access around the closure.

There will be construction equipment noise in the area. However, all noise-related work is restricted between the hours of 8 a.m.-6 p.m.

Temporary Sidewalk Closures Near Music and Theater Arts

LAVC faculty, staff and students should be aware of sidewalk closures effecting Music Building & Theatre Arts from December 9, 2019-January 17, 2020. The closed sidewalks include south of the Music building east entrance, south of Music building between the Motion Picture Studio, east side of Motion Picture Studio, and east side of the Omega Data Center. Directional signage will be placed to route student traffic during this period.

Starting December 9, 2019, there are sidewalk closures effecting Music & Theatre Arts buildings. Directional signage will be placed to route student traffic during this period.

This work is part of the Energy Infrastructure Improvements (EII) project. Read the EII Construction Notification #14 with diagram [PDF].

The sidewalk closures are located:

  • south of the Music building east entrance,
  • south of Music building between the Motion Picture Studio,
  • east side of Motion Picture Studio, and
  • east side of the Omega Data Center.

There will also be construction related equipment noise in the area. 

Work is expected to be completed by January 17, 2020.

Closure of Lot H, Quad Park, and Bungalows 45-47, 50-52, and 48-49 in Preparation for the Energy Infrastructure Improvement Project

LAVC faculty, staff and students should be aware that Lot H, the Quad Park, and Bungalows 45-47, 50-52, and 48-49 will be closed starting on December 6, 2018 and fencing is being installed as part of the Energy Infrastructure Improvements (EII) project. The EII project includes the demolition of Bungalows 45-47 and 50-52 in preparation for the construction of the Thermal Energy Storage Tank (TES), equipment upgrades in the Central Plant, and construction of underground piping for the north loop located at the north end of Monarch Square.

Closure of Lot H, Quad Park, and Bungalows 45-47, 50-52, and 48-49 in Preparation for the Energy Infrastructure Improvement Project

Starting on Thursday, December 6, mobilization will begin for the Energy Infrastructure Improvement (EII) project. The project includes the demolition of Bungalows 45-47 and 50-52 in preparation for the construction of the Thermal Energy Storage Tank (TES), equipment upgrades in the Central Plant, and construction of underground piping for the north loop located at the north end of Monarch Square.

Construction fencing will be erected around Lot H, the Quad Park, and Bungalows 45-47, 50-52, and 48-49. Pedestrian access into the campus will be available on the west side of Lot H as illustrated on this diagram [JPG].

In addition, Lot H will be used for contractor's offices, parking and lay down, and will be closed to campus parking during the duration of the project.

Closure of Southern Portion of Bungalows in preparation for the Bungalow Removal Project

LAVC students, faculty and staff should be aware that the campus bungalows along Burbank Boulevard are permanently closed as of August 23, 2018. New fencing has been installed around groups of bungalows until they are demolished. There are designated pedestrian pathways through the area to allow for pedestrian access into the campus from Burbank Boulevard and from Parking Lot H.

In preparation for an upcoming Bungalow Removal Project, most of the bungalows along Burbank Boulevard have been permanently closed. 

The new fencing has been installed around groups of bungalows until they are demolished. There are designated pedestrian pathways through the area to allow for pedestrian access into the campus from Burbank Boulevard and from Parking Lot H, as illustrated on the LAVC Campus Map.

In addition, College Sheriff personnel will continue to patrol the area. If you see any suspicious activity, please report it to the LAVC Sheriff's Office at (818) 947-2433.

Installation of the Valley Academic and Cultural Center Construction Fencing, Permanent Closure of Parking Lot C & Restriping of Parking Lot B 

LAVC faculty, staff and students should be aware that activities related to the construction of the new Valley Academic and Cultural Center (VACC) begins on September 10, 2016. Parking Lot B will be restriped to delete parking stalls and create a east-west roadway in the lot, and new construction fencing for the VACC project will be installed, and Parking Lot C will permanently close.

Installation of the Valley Academic and Cultural Center Construction Fencing, Permanent Closure of Parking Lot C & Restriping of Parking Lot B 

Starting Saturday, September 10, activities related to the construction of the new Valley Academic and Cultural Center (VACC) will begin.

Parking Lot B will be restriped to delete parking stalls and create a east-west roadway in the lot. In addition, new construction fencing for the VACC project will be installed, and Parking Lot C will permanently close. In Parking lot B, a number of parking stalls will be removed, and a new vehicle access lane will be striped to create a new two-lane vehicle pathway north of a new temporary construction fence starting September 10.

Following that, new construction fencing will be installed that will permanently close Lot C, and the current pedestrian pathways between the Music Building and Campus Drive to Parking Lot B will not be accessible. New paths will be identified / added to facilitate pedestrian traffic around the construction site. Please refer to this map [JPG].
