LAVC Named Best Trade School, Best Nursing School & Best Tutoring by the Daily News

The LA Daily News 2021 Readers' Choice Awards has awarded LA Valley College as "Best" in three separate categories. Daily News readers choose Valley College as "Best Career College/Trade School", "Best Career College/Nursing School", and "Best Tutoring." In addition, our Monarch Camp on campus was named "Best Kids Camp". LAVC was the only school to recieve three "Best" awards in the Education category this year! Classes start August 30! Enroll Now in an Extra Class

Take the classes you need to graduate or enroll in class to enrich your body and mind this Fall. Open seats are available in classes, like Yoga, Swimming, Circuits, Weight Training, Rock Climbing, Table Tennis, Soccer, Basketball and much more! Check our Fall 2021 Schedule to search for open in-person, online or hybrid class. Register online through the mycollege.laccd.edu Portal, and contact our Welcome Center for In-Person & Online Student Support if you need registration assistance or have questions.

Get a campus update from LAVC President Gribbons at the LAVC Student Town Hall on YouTube Live. He shared start of Fall classes, on-campus safety protocols, how to apply for the $1000 federal award, and he will answer your questions on the live chat. COVID-19 Vaccination Pop-Up Clinic

Saturday, August 28 from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
Parking Lot A

LAVC is partnering with Fulgent Genetics to hold on-campus COVID-19 Vaccination Pop-Up Clinic on August 28 to give students, employees and the public to get the vaccine. All three vaccines options will be available. For each dose an LAVC students and employees receives at these pop-up events, he/she receives a $150 gift card to the LAVC Bookstore. Plus, LAVC students who get their vaccination at our event are also eligible for up to $150 with the Max the Vax districtwide incentive.


In-Person Registration Fair

Saturday, August 28 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
Student Services Plaza

Come get registration assistance, see a counselor, get financial aid, register/add classes, and more at the In-Person Registration Fair on August 28. You'll also be able to meet departments and programs at our Academic Pathways & Student Support Services Fair, and get a chance to win Apple AirPods, Beats Studio Buds, and other prizes! There will be FREE Subway lunch and FREE Kona Shaved Ice (while supplies last) and listen to our live music from our Music Department!


$1000 Federal Awards for Students with Financial Aid

Every LA Valley College student enrolled for Fall 2021 who qualifies for financial aid is eligible to receive a $1000 federal stimulus award. To receive the award, you must:

  • Have LAVC as your home campus,
  • Be enrolled at Valley College for Fall 2021, AND
  • Be eligible for the FAFSA, California College Promise Grant (fee waiver), Dream Act Grant, or demonstrate economic hardship resulting from COVID-19

If you haven't applied for financial aid, complete your Free Application for Federal Student (FAFSA) application (LAVC code is 001228) or complete the California College Promise Grant Application.

Extended Opportunities Programs & Services (EOPS) is now accepting applications for new students through Sunday, September 12 at 11:59 PM. Eligible students receive helpful counseling, priority registration, funds to help pay for textbooks and more. For more information and the online application, visit EOPS.

Open Auditions for LAVC's Fall Production of All Together Now!

The LAVC Theater Department is holding open auditions for the musical revue All Together Now! On-campus auditions will be held on Wednesday, September 1 from 4-7 p.m. and Thursday, September 2 from 6-8:30 p.m. in the Theater Arts Building. If you cannot attend the in-person auditions, the deadline to submit a self-tape audition is Friday, September 3 at 12 p.m. For more informatiion about the show and the auditions, visit the LAVC Theater Department.

Labor Day Holiday

The campus is closed for the Labor Day holiday. Campus offices and services will reopen, and classes will resume on Tuesday, September 7.
