Internships are designed to provide opportunities for students to receive valuable work experience and college credit. In exchange, the employer has an opportunity to view interns in a work environment without having made a formal offer of employment.

Many employers in the surrounding area, particularly in the entertainment industry, frequently offer valuable opportunities for students to get hands-on experience and college credit. The Cooperative Education program has developed an Internship Agreement that provides some guidelines for proper utilization of interns and also discusses Worker's Compensation coverage. In order for a student to receive college credit for an internship (and be covered by our Worker's Compensation insurance), they must enroll in the Cooperative Education program and meet program requirements. For LAVC, internship is defined as "unpaid" work experience. Listings for internships are posted on the College Central Network website:

Employers, please encourage interns to enroll for Cooperative Education at Los Angeles Valley College.  The benefits include a structured learning opportunity and a vehicle for students to earn college units for their experience.  Please note that students who are not officially enrolled in the program are NOT covered by student insurance.

Students, if you secure an internship from the CCN site, please follow the application process on our Coop. Ed. site to officially enroll in the Cooperative Education program to earn units and add structure to your experience.
