Meet Our Writing Tutor Arpine Israyelyan!
Meet Our Writing Tutor Arpine Israyelyan!

Arpine was born and raised in a small village in Armenia where she went to a public school. At 10 years old, she realized that the education she was getting was not satisfying her, and she asked her parents to move her to a better school in another city. Her parents were not happy with that decision at first, but Arpine refused to go to school if they do not move her to a different school, her dream school. The transition from a small village to the capital city of Armenia was not that easy for Arpine, but the passion she had for her education made her overcome all the barriers to pursue her dreams.

Danira Ortega’s top key points to succeed in her life to become a UCLA undergraduate is being resilient and using the right resources.  She was born at Los Angeles but moved to Mexico when she was 2 years old and came back to the United States in 2015. At the beginning of the first year at Valley College in 2016, she struggled to assimilate to the U.S. culture and school.  Since she used the resources at LAVC such as Extended Opportunity Program Service and Puente Program to get counseling and tutoring, she found it easier to adapt to the culture and school.
