This is a three-course series designed to examine online teaching strategies. Several of us have taken this series and we highly recommend these courses.

EDUC 102: ADVANCED Cyber Teachers’ Institute

These three courses are offered entirely online.

Free Online Conference June 11-12, 2008

LERN will be offering the third free 2008 online conference, Fostering Online Discussion, June 11-12, 2008. This is a two-day, asynchronous online conference that will remain available to all participants through June 19th, 2008. Please review the agenda enclosed.

Conference topics include:

•  Asynchronous discussions to enrich online classroom    discourse

•  Providing effective feedback in Discussion using the
   2 + 2 model

•  Best strategies to facilitate critical thinking in online    discussions

Valley College Etudes Certification Training

Valley College will be offering Etudes Certification Training. This is the training you need to be eligible to teach online at LAVC.

This hybrid Etudes introduction will focus on an overview of the core ETUDES tools, features, and functions. The online course will begin with a face to face session on Monday, June 16th, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Then a week online and a second face to face session on June 23rd, 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. A final week online and a third face to face session on June 30th, 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. The course will finish up by the end of the week. The face to face meetings are optional, but strongly encouraged.

Intermediate Etudes Training

We will be offering three one day, three hour sessions to help you set up your class for the fall. Bring your syllabus, module information, ideas for discussion and we will help you set up your classes for the Fall. This is the class that bridges the gap between the Certification Training and the teaching of your own course. You may attend any one of these, or all three.
