Lesson 1: What is ETUDES-NG?
All online classes need to use a computer program, commonly called CMS, or "Course Management Software" to create the virtual classrooms where you will read and submit assignments, engage in class discussions, and do everything else necessary for you to experience an engaging, effective electronic education.
Los Angeles Valley College uses a computer program that lives on the Internet (You do not have to "Download" any software to your owm machine), called ETUDES-NG, for all our online classes. Run by the Information Technology (IT) staff at Foothill College, ETUDES stands for "Easy-to-Use-Distance-Education-Software," (the "NG" stands for "Next Generation").
While this program really is easy-to-use, there are some important points you will need to know about using ETUDES-NG that might not be obvious. This tutorial has been designed to teach you how to use ETUDES-NG so that you will get the most out of your online class with a minimum of frustrating technical problems.
Bright Idea! Review all the following lessons to avoid technical problems to ensure you have a positive, productive, and satisfying online learning experience.
