Welcome to CAOT 31- Business English,

My name is Mrs. Jennings, and I will be your online instructor. I am happy you have chosen to enroll in this course, and I am looking forward to working with you this semester.

In this course we will examine the mechanics of business communications. We will study grammar fundamentals, sentence structure, punctuation, and document revision.

This course will be taught 100 percent online. Lectures are given online, and all quizzes, tests, and assignments will be completed online. There are no required on-campus meetings. While you will enjoy greater flexibility in scheduling your study time, you will need to be self-motivated and disciplined in setting your study schedule and completing course requirements. All assignments, tests, and quizzes will be completed according to a specific timeline.

Required Textbook: Business English 8 th Edition by Mary Ellen Guffey and “WebTutor Access Key” (Packaged with your textbook)

An access key number will be included with your textbook when you purchase it from the bookstore. You cannot access the course assignments and tests without an access key number.

The course website will be available beginning February 5 th through the ETUDES-NG website. You must log on by February 9 th to avoid being dropped from the course. A link to the website and information regarding your username and password can be found at the following link. Make sure you have a working e-mail address.

You need to have the time and be self-motivated and self-disciplined to succeed in an online course. If you are not sure if you are ready for an online class, take the quiz at the following link.

Make sure you have internet access and that your computer system is adequate by reviewing the system requirements at the following link.

There are computer labs available on campus if you do not have internet access or if you have technical problems.
