LAVC Tutoring Services

For All Writing Assignments
The Writing Center, located in Humanities 100 and 102, offers students individualized help with any kind of writing and reading assignments through one-to-one tutoring, group writing workshops, instructive handouts, and tutorial software. Other services offered include a computer lab with word processing, printing, and Internet access. Online tutoring is available at www.lavc.edu/Wcweb/index.html. All services are free of charge on a walk-in or appointment basis.

For All Math Assignments
All LAVC students are free to use our Math Lab, located in the Math Science Building, room 106. Tutors, skilled in mathematics, are available to work with any students on math homework assignments or in preparation for a math exam. Check out the online Math website for more information.

Tutoring for All Other Classes
All LAVC students are welcome to use the tutoring services of the Learning Center.

Supplemental Instruction
Specific help is available for many classes through our SI program. Check out the SI website for more information.

Disabled Students
Specific help is available for disabled students. Check out the DSPS website.

Earth Science and Anthropology Department Tutoring
Monday through Thursday afternoons - 2:30 to 6:30 PM In Math Science 113 or 109 (check posted schedules). Free tutoring in Anthropology, Astronomy, Earth Science, Environmental Science, Geography/GIS, Geology, and Oceanography. Friendly and qualified peer-tutors ready to help. Nursing Tutoring Available
The Los Angeles County -Department of Health provides the Nursing Program here at Valley with a Tutoring/Mentoring Grant designed to assist students with success in the program and in passing the National Licensure Exam known as NCLEX-RN. It is a 2 year grant currently in its second renewal that provides over $196,000. All currently enrolled nursing students are eligible to participate in the programs offered such as Math tutoring, clinical skill simulations in our nursing lab, clinical workshops where the students work in very small groups with an experienced clinical instructor to concentrate on proficiency and compentency in providing and managing client care, test-taking and critical thinking workshops and tutoring sessions and a wonderful nursing review program designed to assist and evaluate the student's progress over their 2 years in the nursing program. Many other departments offer specific tutoring related to that subject field. Ask your instructor if tutoring is available.
