Academic Counseling is crucial to a student's educational progress. The Student Support Services counselor works with students to develop a comprehensive plan of study for Los Angeles Valley College. Students participating in the Student Support Services program will have the opportunity to meet with the Academic Counselor on a regular basis. The SSS staff works closely with departmental chairs, Financial aid staff, Career services, Counseling and the Office of Disabled Student Services to ensure that TRIO students understand the options and requirements of Los Angeles Valley College. Participants will receive valuable information through individualized educational plans, degree audit reports, interest inventories and career/major exploration.
The TRIO/SSS program counselor is available to help you with:
- Course selection and registration geared to planning a transfer bound academic program
- Academic or personal counseling
- Monitor student academic progress
- Financial aid assistance
- Scholarship opportunities
- Career counseling
- Inform students about admission requirements at 4 year universities
