Americas Career Infonet -- Obtain wage and employment trends, and occupational requirements. This site also offers career videos and an extensive resource library.
Career Magazine -- Features information about a wide range of careers. Students can access occupational videos and personality assessments.
Eureka -- (You will need to register on-line to use this site. The LAVC Site ID Code is PG2WIRG). Eureka provides information on college majors, descriptions of occupations, resume information and much more.
Job Star Career Guides -- This site provides information about educational requirements, job duties, and salary information for a range of occupational fields.
Missing Major.com -- This site will assist you in exploring majors relating to your skills and interests.
OOH -- Occupational Outlook Handbook – This site provides the complete content of the OOH published by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. It describes the training, and work activities for over 200 occupations.
O*NET -- Occupational Information Network –This occupational network database provides detailed information on more than 200 occcupations. It includes job skills, values, and activities pertaining to the field.
UC Berkeley Career Center -- UC Berkeley’s career center provides a list of professional associations and a link to “What Can I Do with a Major In.”
Informational Interviews -- Contact professionals in a field of interest to learn more about an occupation.
Job Shadow -- Get connected. See what it’s like to work in an occupation that interests you by spending half a day at a company or organization “shadowing” a professional in the field. For more information contact the Career/Transfer Center at 818-947-2646.
Salary Calculator -- Find salary information on a field throughout the U.S.
Service Learning -- The LAVC Service Learning program links students with non-profit agencies. Students work as volunteers obtaining experience that relates to their courses.
