Student Success Committee
The purpose of the Student Success Committee
The Student Success Committee (SSC) supports academic and student support programs in accordance with the Educational Master Plan and college mission. The committee supports efforts among the multiple services provided to students and communicates with the other campus groups. SSC reviews the support available, sets priorities and makes policy recommendations to the Institutional Effectiveness Council.
Mission
The mission of the Student Success Committee is to increase student success and completion by fostering a student-centered guidance, support and instructional system in accordance with the Educational Master Plan and college mission through an integrated approach.
Goals 2011-2012
- To ensure that all Tier-3 committees align their goals/objectives with that of the SSC, PASS, ATD, and EMP. (These goals/objectives will be periodically monitored by the SSC to ensure alignment)
- To continue to look at the impact of current math/English assessment practices on degree completion and student success for student at LAVC and look at the implication of assessment for online students.
- To look at the current data/status of students on academic probation at LAVC and analyze the results in order to make recommendations that will create a campus-wide comprehensive approach to reduce the number of students on academic probation.
- To implement and evaluate another cycle of the Student Success Jamboree for fall 11’ and spring 12’ students.
