The Reading Center

The LAVC Reading Lab, a Developmental Communications program in the Department of Psychology, has been operating for almost forty years. The Reading Center, which is comprised of the Reading Lab, laboratory classrooms and faculty offices, is located in the new Library building on the second floor, LARC 220. The lab remains predominantly closed after the retirement of Ms. Harootyan. The College has yet to hire a suitable replacement. Limited classes are available, please check the current schedule of classes.

The Reading Computer Lab is home to Developmental Communications 22 A-E.

Dev Com 22A-E Communications Laboratory
(5) NDA RPT2.  Prerequisite: None.
This course is offered on a Pass/No Pass basis only. Open entry/open exit.
Lab Requirement:  18 hours over the semester in The Reading Center.
Developmental Communications 22A-E are modular, multimedia programs teaching phonics, spelling, vocabulary, reading and study skills. Students may enroll sequentially in up to three units per semester. In each program, students work at their own time and pace.
