Enrollment Steps

  1. Apply to Los Angeles Valley College
     
  2. Apply to the Valley Promise - Please contact the Office of Student Outreach & Recruitment at chmielfa@lavc.edu or call (818) 947-7218 for information. 
     
  3. Apply for a FAFSA,  California College Promise Grant (formerly the Board of Governors (BOG) Fee Waiver) OR Dream Act Application 
     
  4. Complete the New Student Online Oriention
     
  5. Take the math and English assessment exams - visit the LAVC Assessment Center located in room 245 (2nd floor) of the Student Success Center or call (818) 947-2587 to make an appointment. 
     
  6. Attend an in-person First Semester Educational Planning (SEP) session where a counselor helps students interpret their assessment results, helps them define their educational goal and select their classes (abbreviated SEP), and gives them important information about the registration process. Visit the Counseling Department website OR call (818) 947-2600, ext. 4200 for information.
     
  7. Enroll in GPS - Please contact the Office of Student Outreach & Recruitment at chmielfa@lavc.edu or call (818) 947-7218 for information.
