Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS)

To become a Microsoft Office Specialist, you need to pass a certification exam to verify your skills. Having the certification qualifies you for a pay differential if you are in any of the following employee categories: Confidential, Supervisory, AFT 1521A, and Building Trades. Certification must be renewed periodically. Check with Yasmin in Personnel to find out how to be reimbursed for the cost of the test.

A training program and practice tests are installed on two of our computers in the PDC (LARC 200). The Professional Development Center is a certified testing center so you can purchase the voucher from us and take the test here. Call 2712 or email profdev@lavc.edu to arrange a time to use the program and/or set up a test. (We charge a proctor fee of $20, which is waived for LAVC employees.)
