In 2010, LAVC embarked on a new campus-wide approach to help strengthen the college’s strategies for improving student success called “Preparing All Students for Success” (PASS).

The PASS approach was developed based on the work of Achieving the Dream (ATD), a national consortium focused on helping more community college students succeed. Using the strategies of ATD, LAVC created atoolbox to assist the college in using data more effectively to help close achievement gaps and improve student outcomes.

As part of this effort, the college assembled a PASS Team, which is comprised of college faculty, staff, administrators and students, to help establish the college’s student success goals and guide the college’s work towards improving student success. Information about PASS, including meeting agenda and minutes, are available on this website.

The work of PASS is now focused on institutionalizing [PDF: 254KB] the five PASS initiatives: Welcome Fair, Global Cohort/START, Clear Pathways, Accelerated Math, and Tutoring.  For more information about these initiatives, see the initiatives page and additional information such as proposals and presentations on the toolbox page. For additional information or if you have any questions, contact the PASS Coordinator, Rebecca Stein.
