Born in Versailles, Prof. Dominique Merrill is a 
native speaker who has beenteaching French for over 30 years. She holds a B.A. and M.A. in French from UCLA and a Diplôme Supérieur from the Université d’Aix-Marseille. Before transferring to L. A. Valley College in the fall of 1999, she taught French and occasionally Spanish for 15 years at Pierce College. In 1992, she was granted a Fulbright Teaching Exchange opportunity and taught for one year in Paris. While at Pierce she served as program leader to Salamanca, Spain for the LACCD Educational Abroad Program. Since the summer of 2004, she has led groups of students from LAVC on summer study programs to Paris and Montpellier. This will be Prof. Merrill’s sixth summer program abroad with LAVC.
