Born in Versailles, Dominique Merrill is a native French speaker who has been teaching French for more than 30 years. She holds a B.A. and M.A. in French from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA), as well as the Diplôme Supérieur from the Université ď Aix-en-Provence. Inducted into the "Who's Who Among American Teachers," Professor Merrill also spent a year teaching in Paris as a Fulbright Teacher Exchange recipient. This is Prof. Merrill's seventh year as LAVC program leader to France.
Being fluent in Spanish, Professor Merrill was a program leader to Salmanca, Spain, for Los Angeles Pierce College, where she taught for 15 years, during which time she organized and conducted weekend language immersion programs. In 1998, she transferred to Los Angeles Valley College, where she continues to teach all levels of French.
