Walk-in Tutoring
The Learning Center offers walk-in tutoring in the main tutoring lab. The subjects offered in the lab usually include but are not limited to:
- Accounting
- Anthropology
- Business
- Chemistry
- Economics
- Learning Skills
- Physics
- Psychology
- Sociology
- Statistics
Appointment-Based Tutoring
Individual tutoring appointments are available to students seeking assistance in subjects for which tutoring is not generally available in the campus labs. Although we cannot guarantee a tutor for every subject requested, we strive to meet the needs of as many students as possible. During the first visit to the Learning Center, students must complete a nominal amount of paperwork and add a noncredit tutoring section to their semester schedules. Appointments are available in select disciplines each semester, usually including but not limited to:
- French 1-2
- Italian 1-2
- Philosophy 9
For specific information, contact the Tutoring Office in person or by phone at (818) 947-2744. Due to budget constraints, individual tutoring appointments are very limited; additionally, you must schedule at least the first appointment in person, after completing our standard paperwork.
General Policies
- No music or cell phones
- No children
- No food or drink
- Proof of current enrollment is required at all times
Information and Reserve Desk
The Learning Center Information and Reserve Desk houses non-print materials for use by current Valley students as well as students enrolled in Instructional Television (ITV) courses. Common offerings include Cinema 104-107, Developmental Communications 22A-22E, and all ITV courses.
Learning Center Walk-in Schedule
The walk-in tutoring lab will be open until Thursday, May 24th. Open hours are 10a-7p on Monday, and 10a-3p on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Please call the Learning Center at 818.947.2744 for specific subject availability in the walk-in tutoring lab.
During Finals Week, the Learning Center will offer limited tutoring on an appointment-only basis. Please contact the Learning Center at 818.947.2744 as soon as possible regarding scheduling procedures and availability. Appointments fill up fast, so please call soon!
