State Chancellor's Office Recognizes
Job Training with Exemplary Innovation Award

February 27, 2007 -- Recognizing their work with the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro), the State Chancellor's Office has awarded Job Training with their "Exemplary Innovation Award."

The announcement of the award stated in part, "...Metro teamed up with Los Angeles Valley College to create a customized vocational training class to meet their hiring needs. This innovative partnership included Los Angeles Valley College, Community Career Development (CCD) WorkSource Center, Literacy Network of Greater Los Angeles, City of Los Angeles Community Development Department, Los Angeles City College, and Metro."

After receiving the award at the Economic and Workforce Development Conference in San Francisco, Job Training Director Lennie Ciufo said, "This is a great recognition for our collaborative effort in meeting Metro's employment needs which benefits the entire City of Los Angeles."

The annual awards recognize excellence in project development as it relates to market responsiveness and innovation. This Collaborative has developed a highly innovative and unique project unlike any other that was responsive to a specific and critical need within the business community and can be replicated at other sites around the state.
