Valley Glen - -The end of the summer saw the culmination of three different ETP funded Job Training programs.
Workplace Communications was the topic at hand at Klune Industries in North Hollywood. Nineteen employees improved their writing, verbal, and oral communication skills during the eight-week program. Gerardo Roldan, Jr., human resource manager, stated that “all the employees who participated were very excited to have gone through the program. Instructor Diana Platt did a great job in presenting the material and above all our employees can immediately begin to apply lessons learned." Roldan also praised Job Training saying “LAVC has once again provided us with another excellent tool that will enable us to aggressively compete within our highly competitive aerospace environment.”

Another aerospace manufacturing firm located in Burbank, GKN Aerospace, also completed a Job Training program in blueprint reading. LAVC Instructor Raul Molina began the class of 15 employees with a refresher course in shop math before delving into blueprint reading. Human Resource Manager Jean DeCastro stated her employees enjoyed the class; several others who did not take the class are now asking about the next opportunity to raise their skill level.

Tuesday, September 18, saw the graduation of 12 students in the Introduction to CNC Programing class. Instructor Abel Magana taught programming skills for HAAS CNC controls. The students, who represented employees from five different manufacturing companies, learned to write and edit programs on HAAS simulators as well as having upgraded their manufacturing processing skills.
