Superior Industries' Staffers Complete Technical Skills Upgrade

June 25, 2004 -- A group of 25 men and women from Superior Industries of Van Nuys were awarded certificates Superior representatives congratulate a graduate.Thursday after successfully completing the third in a series of highly technical classes. The group upgraded skills that will give them a better working knowlege of the advanced machinery at their facility.

The instruction, coordinated through Valley College's Job Training program, included blueprint reading and geometric tolerancing, CMM training, and a computerized numerical control class. Funding for the project was arranged through the California Manufacturing and Technology Consulting (CMTC) utilizing funds gained through the Employment Training Panel (ETP).

Representatives of Valley College and Superior Industries display a certificate awarded to the company.The two-hour graduation ceremony was begun by college president Tyree Wieder who welcomed the guests and congratulated the graduates. In attendance were notables such as instructor Victor De La Torre, instructional liaison Roberto Gutierrez, and training specialist Carmen Bizjack.

Job Training director Lennie Ciufo praised the group while noting the successful relationship his organization shares with Superior. "We're very proud of our partnership with Superior and we thank them for the opportunity to have worked with them the past five years to upgrade the skills of their employees. We look forward to many more opportunities to work with this leading employer of our community."
