Job Training Presents
November 29, 2004 - - In ceremonies conducted in Ontario, yesterday, Los Angeles Valley College Job Training presented Superior Super Warehouse anad Chicana Service Action Center with an "Outstanding Achievement Award" for promoting workforce development in their communities.
Working together in this collaborative, Job Training conducted a three-week customer service/cashier training course for their new Ontario store, after which 36 cashiers were given employment. This follows training for their other new location in Long Beach, in which 35 individuals were graduated and immediately employed.
Lennie Ciufo, director of Job Training, gives much of the credit for the success of the project to the Chicana Service Action Center. “They coordinated the entire recruitment, interviewing, and placement for these two new store openings,” he says. “Both organizations, Chicana and Superior, were excellent organizations to work with. We look forward to continued success with this growing partnership. ”
This marks the seventh time Chicana Service Action Center and Los Angeles Valley College have teamed together with Superior Super Warehouse and the tenth time the college has worked with the supermarket chain.
