2013-2014 Financial Aid Process
Complete your aid process for 2013-14 in 4 Easy Steps!
Although these steps are quick and relatively simple, you must pay attention to what each section/document is asking you to complete. Take your time and read the online forms. If you click on “submit” but did not enter data on the online forms or entered incorrect information that you would like to change, you may be required to complete a paper form which will potentially delay processing of your financial aid file.
Log into the Student Information System (SIS).
- Select your financial aid processing school -- Click on “Online Forms” then select 2013-2014 academic year and click the Go Select Processing School button. Choose “Los Angeles Valley College” and submit. You must wait 48 hours for the system to load your information on the web. After 48 hours login again to SIS and continue to Step #3. IMPORTANT NOTE: Completing this step will ensure you establish a priority date with our office. Please note that we award campus based awards such as Federal Work Study and FSEOG based on fund availability and on a first come first served basis.
- After 48 hours (2 Business Days) from the time you selected LAVC as your processing school, log back into the Student Information System and click on “Financial Aid” on the right hand of the screen.
- Select “Los Angeles Valley College”, semester and academic year from the drop down menu. Click on FA Status at the bottom of the page.
- If more information is required from you, a list of documents will appear. These forms are to be completed either online and/or printed and submitted to the Financial Aid Office (along with any other additional documentation requested).
NOTES: If you the system indicates “No Record” found for Los Angeles Valley College, you may have listed multiple colleges (within the LACCD), therefore you must select your “financial aid processing school” by following instructions on Step #1.
If you have been selected for Verification, you and/or your parents will need to complete additional information immediately. If we request IRS Tax Return Transcripts for 2012, it is recommended that you go back to your FAFSA and utilize the IRS Data Retrieval Tool in lieu of submitting the Transcript. DO NOT make corrections to the retrieved data from IRS; otherwise, we will still require you to submit the IRS Tax Return Transcript.
We advise that you complete the process by our May 1st priority deadline (May 9th due to system issues) to be considered for potential funding by the first week of the semester (assuming all eligibility requirements are met). Although we will continue to accept your information after early May, missing any of the priority deadlines will diminish your chances of receiving aid by the first week of the fall semester.
