Career and Academic Success Team

The Los Angeles Valley College Child Development (CD) Career and Academic Success Team (CAST) is a program addressing the needs of CD students and the Early Childhood Education (ECE) industry. CAST focuses on recruitment, retention, completion, transfer, and job placement. The philosophy behind our model support program is a "team" approach, with CAST staff providing comprehensive resources to students as they enter Los Angeles Valley College (LAVC) from our high school pathways, matriculate and graduate, and as they continue their education at a 4-year institution and/or enter the workforce.

This project is funded through the Los Angeles Universal Preschool (LAUP) Early Care and Education Workforce Initiative.

CAST is a partnership between LAVC, three high schools (San Fernando, Panorama and Frances Polytechnic), two 4-year colleges (California State University, Northridge and University of La Verne) as well as a collection of industry partners including Child Care Resource Center (CCRC), Bright Horizons Family Solutions, Volunteers of America, Los Angeles, Children's Circle Nursery School, Oakdale School.
