PD Corner—Welcome Back to the 2018-2019 Academic Year!

LAVC kicked off new academic year with Opening Day activities for faculty and one for staff before the start of the semester. Looking ahead, faculty and staff should RSVP online for the Implicit Bias Workshop on September 14, and there will be a visit from the PRT on September 28 to help us identify our professional development needs.

PD Corner—Welcome Back to the 2018-2019 Academic Year!

Both classified staff and faculty had a rousing return to campus with their Opening Days. President Erika Endrijonas addressed us with a presentation about C.H.A.N.G.E.! So many ch-ch-ch-changes! From the new funding formula to Guided Pathways to the new LAVC Helping Hands Food Pantry.

Faculty spent the day working on Guided Pathways, clustering the majors, and discussing topics such as supporting students on their path, discipline advising, and communication. Classified staff participated in a game show review of important student services provided on campus. A good and productive time was had by all.

Don't forget to RSVP for the Implicit Bias Workshop on September 14 from 9-11:30 a.m. in Monarch Hall!  Please register online as soon as possible, so that we can have a headcount for lunch.

Also, LAVC will have a visit from a PRT (Partnership Resource Team) on September 28 to help us examine our campus-wide professional development needs for faculty as well as staff. The feedback of the PRT will help us to develop effective training activities for employees.
