LAVC Workforce Training Receives an SBWIB Outstanding Achievement Award

Congratulations to LAVC's Workforce Training (Job Training) for being awarded—for the 17th consecutive year—an Outstanding Achievement Award at the recent South Bay Workforce Investment Board (SBWIB) award ceremony.

LAVC Workforce Training Receives an SBWIB Outstanding Achievement Award

The LAVC Workforce Training Program (formerly called Job Training or JTPA) has received an Outstanding Achievement Award at the 21st annual South Bay Workforce Investment Board (SBWIB) Annual Awards ceremony on October 13 in Torrance.

This is the 17th consecutive year Workforce Training has been recognized. Recognized in four areas, the program faced heavy competition from throughout the Los Angeles area. Judging was based on the program’s ability to graduate individuals and then place them into meaningful jobs and/or careers. The four programs recognized were:

  • The Tool and Manufacturing Academy (100%)
  • Metro Customer Service Specialist with Employability Skills (89%)
  • LA Fellows with Professional Development (83%)
  • Microsoft Academy (83%)

The SBWIB oversees a consortium of 11 cities and annually serves more than 100,000 youth, adults, and dislocated workers.

The LAVC Workforce Training Program (previously known as Job Training, and JTPA) has been recognized both locally and nationally. It has placed more than 23,000 job seekers into new positions while upgrading the skills over approximately 20,000 incumbent workers. Now in its 22nd year, Workforce Training serves LAVC students and community members with resources and training leading to employment.
