Monarch Athletics Update—Men's Water Polo Ranked #2 in the State!

Congratulations to the Men's Water Polo team being ranked #2 in California! The defending WSC Conference Championship team made it all the way to the CCCAA Men's Water Polo Championship.

Monarch Athletics Update—Men's Water Polo Ranked #2 in the State!

The LAVC Athletics Department congratulates Men's Water Polo on their accomplishment of being ranked second in the state at the California Community College Athletic Association's (CCCAA) Men's Water Polo State Championship.

The following is an update on our Monarch Athletic teams and the game schedule for the week of November 19:

  • Men’s Water Polo competed in the CCCAA State Water Polo State Championships, and were the runner-ups in the state finals. The Athletics department wants to thank all the students and staff for their efforts in helping the team support the team on its path to the state championship game. Earlier in the season, the team brought home its fifth straight Western State Conference Championship title, and was one of four teams to advance to the CCCAA state tournament.

  • Men's Football finished their season with a decisive win over Santa Ana College in their make-up game on Wednesday, November 14. The original game was rescheduled due to the poor air quality from the Woolsey fire. 

  • Men's Basketball won 2 out of three over the weekend in the Pasadena Tournament. Next, Men’s Basketball has a tourney after Thanksgiving on November 29.

  • Women’s Basketball (1-2) had a victory over Bakersfield last Saturday. They have a home game versus LA Southwest on Saturday, November 24 at 3 p.m. in the South Gym's competition gym; tickets are Women's Basketball home game tickets are $7 for adults and $4 for students. They also have the Sequoias tournament coming up on November 29-December 2.

The LAVC Athletics Department's Monarch Athletics program comprises of 10 intercollegiate athletic teams. The Men's Football, Women's Soccer, and Men and Women's Water Polo teams play every fall. Spring team sports include Men's Baseball, Men's and Women's Basketball, Women's Softball, and Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving.
