Come to the Student Union to visit the Cafeteria, Lion Cafe, Bookstore, Business Office, Lion's Den lounge, a Lair Study room, Student Life Office and more!

The LAVC Student Union is the new home of the Cafeteria, Lion Cafe, Bookstore, Business Office, Student Health Center, Student Psychological Services, Student Life Office, a student lounge, a study room, and the on-campus ATM.

The following services are open in the Student Union during the Fall 2016 semester:

  • The LAVC Cafeteria is located in SU 133 (on the first floor of the Student Union), and offers fresh, made-to-order burgers, hot sandwiches, Mexican food, breakfast sandwiches and burritos, and its "famous" chicken strips and fries. Pizza, salads and more are also available. It is open Monday-Thursday from 7:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m.
     
  • The Lion Cafe is located in SU 167 (southeast corner of the Student Union). The Cafe proudly brews Peet's Coffee and offers espresso, lattes, Javiva cold-blended coffee drinks, hot and iced teas, and iced coffee. It also sells fresh pastries, cold sandwiches, cold drinks, snacks, and more! Its normal hours of operation are Monday-Thursday from 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. and Friday from 7:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
     
  • The Monarch Campus Bookstorewhich is located on the first floor of the Student Union (SU 150), sells new and used textbooks, software, supplies, and LAVC-branded apparel. It also offers textbook rentals on selected textbooks, a book loan program for qualified students, and a textbook buyback for students to get cash for their gently used textbooks. It is open Monday-Thursday from 7:30 a.m.-7 p.m., Friday from 7:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
     
  • The LAVC Business Office, which is located on the first floor of the Student Union (SU 143), is the last step in the student registration process. It collects all registration fees, including student parking permit fees, and issues the student Registration Receipt. It is open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m.-3:45 p.m. and Tuesday from 8 a.m.-6:15 p.m.
     
  • The Student Health Center, which is located in SU 101, offers students access to free medical services including medical assessments, examinations, and short-term treatment for illness and minor medical problems, as well as reduced costs for on-campus lab tests and immunizations. It is open Monday-Thursday from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. and closed on Friday-Sunday. To schedule an appointment, call (818) 947-2918. 
     
  • Student Psychological Services has a experienced clinical psychologist will discuss your problem with you, explore ideas for resolving your problem, and work with you as you attempt a resolution. It is open Monday-Thursday from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. and closed on Friday-Sunday, and it offers walk-in hours for the Fall semester on Monday from 4-6 p.m., Tuesday from 10-3 p.m., Wednesday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., and Thursday from 4-6 p.m. To schedule an appointment, call (818) 947-5708.
     
  • The Student Life Office is home to the Associated Student Union, which is the student government at Valley College, and the student clubs on campus. It also operates the Study Lair and Lion's Den. It is located in SU 208 (on the second floor of the Student Union) and is open Monday-Thursday from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
     
  • The Study Lair is a quiet place students can use to study in the Student Union skybox (SU 216). It is open Monday-Thursday from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
     
  • The Lion's Den in SU 207 is a place where students can hang out between classes. There is a foosball table and pool table, and spaces to sit and relax with friends. It is is open Monday-Thursday from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. and closed on Friday.
     
  • The ATM on campus is located on the first floor of the Student Union (next to the Cafeteria). This ATM location gives students a convenient place on-campus to access their financial aid disbursements with their HigherOne Card without being charged a service fee.
