The LAVC Child Development Department and the LAVC Child Development Center participated in Annabelle Godwin Play Day on May 18, 2018 at Woodley Park in Van Nuys.

Annabelle Godwin Play Day, which is presented by the Child Care Resource Center (CCRC), is an annual community event that focuses on child-enriching and sensory-enriching activities for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and young school-aged children, entertainment, a reptile exhibit and more.

In addition, there were multiple organizations, such as CSUN and LAVC, were on hand to raise awareness of high quality educational programs in the early childhood education field.

Professors Tracey Dickson-Baca and Gloria San Jose Daims promoted LAVC's Child Development program, including courses, certificates, and degrees. LAVC Child Development Teachers Carmen, Mariko, Olga, and Ruby held a "live worm observation table", which was a big hit among children and adults!

Annabelle Godwin Play Day is named in honor of Child Development Professor Annabelle Godwin, who taught at LA Mission College, for her lifelong commitment to positive early care and educational programs that benefit thousands of residents in the greater San Fernando Valley and Los Angeles areas.
