LAVC Selects the 2016-2017 Book for its One Book, One College Program

The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks has been selected as LAVC's 2016-2017 One Book, One Campus book selection. All faculty members who incorporate the book into their course curriculum will receive one free copy of the book. There will also be an optional online book club for faculty/staff beginning on June 20.

LAVC Selects the 2016-2017 Book for its One Book, One College Program

The LAVC One Book, One Campus Program announces that The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks has been selected as the college's One Book, One Campus book selection for the 2016-2017 academic year. Faculty from variety of disciplines will be able to incorporate into their teaching during Fall 2016 and Spring 2017.

There will be an optional 6-week online Summer book club for faculty and staff from June 20-July 31, and other in-person activities will be held during Summer 2016. 

In addition, the One Book, One Campus Program will be providing one free copy of the book to each participating faculty member who will be incorporating the book into his/her course curriculum for Fall 2016.

The One Book, One College program is a successful concept has been implemented at other colleges and universities. The selected book is used in a variety of disciplines to show students how different disciplines can be connected by the same reading material. It will help to create intellectual continuity and shared experiences for LAVC students and faculty. The program coordinator for LAVC's new One Book, One College program is Michelle Lewis.
