LAVC Athletics Monday Monarch Memo for March 4

Congrats to Men's Basketball for representing Valley at the second round of the So Cal Playoffs, and to Men's and Women's Swim for finishing in second at WSC Meet #1. Sona Aghasaryan also finished 2nd in the 50 freestyle also finished 2nd at the meet. This week, come cheer on our Monarchs at home as Baseball plays West LA on March 5 at 1:30 p.m. and Bakersfield on March 7 at 2 p.m., and Softball plays Glendale on March 5 at 1 p.m. and Oxnard on March 7 at 2 p.m. #GoMonarchs

LAVC Athletics Monday Monarch Memo for March 4

The LAVC Athletics Department congratulates Men's Basketball for reaching the second round of the CCCAA Southern California Regional Playoffs. Men's and Women's Swim both finished second and Sona Aghasaryan finished 2nd in the 50 freestyle at the Western State Conference (WSC) Meet #1.

The following is an update on our Monarch Athletic teams and the game schedule for the week of March 4-10: 

  • Men's Basketball made it to the So Cal Playoffs and beat Ventura in the first round. However, they lost a close one, in the second round at Chaffee College on Saturday, March 2. Congratulations on a good season and thanks for representing LA Valley this season! They have a lot to look forward to for next season, with nine freshmen scheduled to return!!

  • Baseball (5-14) has a busy week in conference play before their BYE week next week. They are scheduled to play at home on Tuesday, March 5 vs. West LA at 1:30 p.m. (early start because of projected rain), then they host Bakersfield College on Thursday, March 7 at 2 p.m. and travel to Bakersfield College on Saturday, March for their scheduled game at 12 noon. There is free admission at home baseball games.

  • Softball (9-5) Weather has adjusted their schedule this week. Softball plays at home on Tuesday, March 5 versus Glendale at 1 p.m. (early start because of projected rain), then they play at Mission College on Thursday, March 7 at 2:30 p.m. and home again on Saturday, March 9 versus Oxnard at 2 p.m. Admission to home softball games is free.

  • Men’s Swim and Women’s Swim both finished second in last week’s WSC #1 meet! They are off this week, training for the WSC #2 meet on March 16. The women’s team was led by Sona Aghasaryan finished 2nd in the 50 freestyle, and is headed to La Verne next year to play water polo!

The LAVC Athletics Department's Monarch Athletics program comprises of 10 intercollegiate athletic teams. The Men's Football, Women's Soccer, and Men and Women's Water Polo teams play every fall. Spring team sports include Men's Baseball, Men's and Women's Basketball, Women's Softball, and Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving.
