Monarch Memo—Men's Swimming Wins WSC Meet #1; Women's Basketball Ends Season at the WSC Tournament

Congrats to Men's Swimming on its win and to Women's Swimming for its third place overall finish at the WSC Meet #1. The Lady Monarchs of Women's Basketball finished the season with a loss to Ventura in the third round of the WSC Tournament.

Monarch Memo—Men's Swimming Wins WSC Meet #1; Women's Basketball Ends Season at the WSC Tournament

The LAVC Athletics Department congratulates Men's Swimming for its win at the WSC Meet #1, and Women's Swimming for placing third overall at the WSC Meet #1.It also commends Coach Monica Hang and the Women's Basketball team on their effort and success this season.

The following is an update on each team and their upcoming games for the week of March 6-11:

  • Baseball (1-19) plays at West LA College on Tuesday, March 7, at home on Thursday, March 9 versus Pierce College, and then at Pierce College on Saturday, March 11 in this weeks conference play.
     
  • Men's Basketball. No update.
     
  • Women's Basketball lost their playoff game in the WSC tournament to Ventura College on Saturday. Ventura now moves on to the State tournament. Congratulations to Coach Hang and to our student athletes for all their effort and success this season!
     
  • Softball plays at home on Thursday, March 9 versus College of the Canyons in Valley's Softball Field.
     
  • Men's Swimming & Diving won the WSC meet #1 on Saturday at College of the Canyons. They were led by Andy Gianolio and Tim Hornyak!!! Their next meet is here at Valley on Friday, March 17!
     
  • Women's Swimming & Diving placed third overall in their competition last Saturday in the WSC #1 swim meet at COC, led by Ani Aghakhanian, from Crescenta Valley. Their next meet is here on Friday, March 17.

The LAVC Athletics Department's Monarch Athletics program comprises of 10 intercollegiate athletic teams. The Men's Football, Women's Soccer, and Men and Women's Water Polo teams play every fall. Spring team sports include Men's Baseball, Men's and Women's Basketball, Women's Softball, and Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving.
