LAVC Guardian Scholars Recognizes Foster Youth for their Achievements

Congratulations to the students in LAVC’s Guardian Scholars foster youth program who will be transferring and/or graduating, are on the dean's list, were foster youth ambassadors, are newly elected student leaders, and to the California Youth Connection (CYC) scholarship recipient!

LAVC Guardian Scholars Recognizes Foster Youth for their Achievements

The LAVC Guardian Scholars Program recently celebrated the achievements of its current or former foster youth students on May 17.

The following Guardian Scholar students were recognized:

Transferring/Graduating/Certificates

  • Hovanes Tonoyan - Accepted to UC Berkeley or UCLA
  • Yoselin Galdamez - Transferring to UC Berkeley (was also accepted to Michigan State University, University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, UCLA, USC, Boston University, and George Washington University)
  • Judith Foster - Transferring to UCLA
  • Dorian McCabe - Earning a certificate in Child Development
  • Cynthia Steingold - Earning a certificate in Recording Arts

The Guardian Scholars Program provides support for current and former foster youth attending Valley College.
