Help Save a Life at LAVC's Spring 2019 Blood Drives!

The Valley Presbyterian Hospital (VPH) Student Health Center at LAVC, in partnership with the American Red Cross, is holding several Blood Drives at Los Angeles Valley College.

According to the American Red Cross, every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood, and it is essential for surgeries, cancer treatment, chronic illnesses, and traumatic injuries. One donation of blood can potentially save up to three lives.

Students, faculty, staff and the public are encouraged to donate blood at one or more of the Spring 2019 campus-wide blood drives. Appointments strongly encouraged, but walk-ins are also welcomed. The following is a schedule of the Spring 2019 American Red Cross Blood Drive dates:

Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental permission in some states), meet weight and height requirements (110 pounds or more, depending on height), and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. Please bring your Red Cross donor card or other form of positive photo ID when you come to donate.

All blood donors are encouraged to drink plenty of water every day for two days before the drive, and have a good meal before making a blood donation. We encourage donors to take an iron supplement three days before each drive. There now is no longer a deferral period for recent tattoos that are done in a licensed tattoo shop.
