Monarch Monday Memo—Women's Basketball WSC East Division Champs; Upcoming Monarchs Home Games

Congrats to Women's Basketball on its WSC East Division Championship win! The Lady Monarchs will play round two of Southern California playoffs at home against Riverside on February 24 at 7 p.m. Also, come and cheer on the Monarchs at home as Softball plays Oxnard on February 21 at 1:30 p.m., and Baseball plays a makeup game on February 21 at 2 p.m., and against COC on February 23 at 2 p.m. 

Monarch Monday Memo—Women's Basketball WSC East Division Champs; Upcoming Monarchs Home Games

The LAVC Athletics Department congratulates Women's Basketball for winning the Western State Conference (WSC) East Division Championship! They have earned the right to play in the Southern California Playoffs. 

The following is an update on each team's record and upcoming games for the week of February 13-19:

  • Baseball (1-13) will play at home on Tuesday, February 21, at 2 p.m. on the Baseball Field (switched to home game, because of rain) and they play again at home on Thursday, February 23 versus College of the Canyons at 2 p.m. on the Baseball Field. Finally, they play at Pierce College on Saturday, February 25 at 1 p.m.
     
  • Men's Basketball. No update.
     
  • Women's Basketball (22-6) are the WSC East Division champions, and will possibly host on Friday night here at Valley College! Come out and support our #8 ranked Lady Monarchs in the second round of the Women's Southern California Basketball Championships against #11 ranked Riverside (19-10) on Friday, February 17 at 7 p.m. in the South Gym's Competition Gym; tickets are $12 for adults & $8 for students with ID. The game will also be broadcasted live on sportsnetusa.net.
     
  • Softball (0-6) will play at home versus Oxnard College on Tuesday, February 21 at 1:30 p.m. on the Softball field. Their game with San Bernardino City College on Friday was rained out and re-scheduled to Thursday, March 2.
     
  • Men's Swimming & Diving and Women's Swimming & Diving resume competition this week with the Golden West Sprint Meet on Friday, February 24 at Golden West College.

The LAVC Athletics Department's Monarch Athletics program comprises of 10 intercollegiate athletic teams. The Men's Football, Women's Soccer, and Men and Women's Water Polo teams play every fall. Spring team sports include Men's Baseball, Men's and Women's Basketball, Women's Softball, and Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving.
